African Black Soap Shampoo

·       Scrapes of black soap

·       Distilled water

·       2tsbsp Aloe Vera Juice

·       1tbsp jojoba oil

·       Drops of Tea tree and patchouli essential oils

Dissolve the African Black Soap in distilled water overnight and mix all ingredients. I only make enough for 2 washes and keep it refrigerated.

Avocado Moisturizing Deep Conditioner

Detangle the hair, cover with a shower cap and sit under a heating cap for 30 minutes. Rinse and blot off excess water.

Result: Soft moisturized hair.

Banana Pure Deep Conditioner

Tresemme Naturals Conditioner(enhanced)

When my hair feels very dry and I don’t have the time to do a fruit blend, I just add and mix the following;

·       2 Tbsp Tresemme Naturals conditioner

·       1 tbsp Honey

·       1 tbsp Mayonnaise

·       1tsp Coconut oil

·       1 egg white

·       Drops tea tree oil and Lavender or any essential oil of choice to kill the egg smell.

Condition as long as I like if under a heating cap 20 minutes is enough. When am doing house chores I just cover with a shower cap and rinse out when am done could even be after an hour or two. I love the softness of the hair.

Sweet Orange aloe Shea Butter Mix

I will try as much as possible to give measurements, I normally estimate to a dropping consistency.

  • ½ cup 100% Raw African Shea Butter
  • ¼ cup Cold Pressed Coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Aloe Vera Juice (pure)
  • 2 tbsp Jojoba oil
  • 1tbsp Vegetable Glycerine
  • 5 drops Sweet Orange oil  or essential oil of choice plus 3 drops Tea tree oil
  • Drops Vitamin E oil

Blend all ingredients and pack in a sterile tin and keep refrigerated because of the Aloe Vera and the Glycerine added which tends to go bad quickly, otherwise you may just store in a cool dry place. I make smaller quantities.

Peppermint Daily Spritz

  • 60 ml distilled water
  • 1 tbsp Aloe Vera juice
  • 1tbp glycerin
  • 1tsp Kinky Curly Knot Today or Luscious leave in conditioner/ flaxseed gel
  • 1tbsp jojoba oil
  • 1tsp olive oil
  • 5 drops of pepper mint oil and 2 drops tea tree oil (optional)
  • Drops of vitamin E oil

Makes 100ml enough for 14 days if hair is not in a protective style otherwise I use more. I keep it refrigerated and stash leftovers after 14 days. Use once every other day in the cold season and twice daily during the hot dry season. Result is well moisturized and soft and easy to finger comb hair without breakage.

NB: The Essential oil used as a scent for the spritz carries the name of the Spritz. I like to change scents. However, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Sweet orange, Lavender and Rose are my personal favourites for now.
